SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) ? Authorities in Northern California say two suspects tried to break into a juvenile detention facility with a sledgehammer in an unsuccessful attempt to free a teenager accused of stealing a celebrity chef's Lamborghini.
Marin (mah-RIHN') County Sheriff Lt. Barry Heying says the incident happened at Marin County Juvenile Hall early Friday morning.
He says investigators believe the suspects were trying to free Max Wade, who is charged with stealing TV chef Guy Fieri's yellow Lamborghini from a San Francisco car dealership in March 2011. The 18-year-old also faces attempted murder charges for shooting at a teenage girl in April.
Heying says the suspects struck a concrete wall and window near Wade's cell. Wade did not escape and the suspects fled.
Officials wouldn't say whether they think Wade was directly involved.
